Hinckley Institute
Student Staff
Student staff play an integral role to the success of the Hinckley Institute and are immensely helpful in ensuring day-to-day operations run smoothly. Student staff duties include mentoring and advising students, assisting with Hinckley programming and administrative tasks, aiding in forums and events, leading and participating in outreach initiatives, and other duties as assigned.
There is a time commitment of 15-30 hours a week and we are flexible with your class schedule. Pay rate starts at $12/hour.

Current Student Staffers
Aya Hibben
Aya is a junior at the University of Utah majoring in political science and history. She has completed one Hinckley internship working for Greg Skordas in his 2020 run for Utah's Attorney General. She is interested in getting involved in politics to work in victim's advocacy.
Nahum Tadesse
Nahum is a junior at the University of Utah majoring in Political Science and International Studies. He has completed four Hinckley internships: with the Governor’s Office, the Salt Lake County Mayor’s Office for New Americans, and two with the SLC Mayor’s Office. He is interested in public service and politics as they relate to immigration and foreign policy and hopes to one day make a change in both realms.
Delker Portocarrero
Delker is a senior at the University of Utah majoring in criminology and sociology with a minor in political science. She has completed two Hinckley internships working with Utah's Commision for Criminal and Juvenile Justice, and U.S District Court District of Utah. She is interested in pursuing a career in criminology theories and public policy.
